So I was skimming through my FB friends and came across one that has a blog and decided to check it out. Behold I never knew how talented she was with words. She goes by the name Psyqsol in her blog. Her last post was quite deep and sobering to say the least. Like I said in my last post, words are our footprints that we leave behind. I would not be surprised if years from now some of her work gets published.
Here is her most recent poem: "Til' the Glass is Empty"

Fair or Unfair???
It's been a crazy busy week and weekend! School is still going great and ROTC as well. Friday was a big accomplishment for me. We had a four mile run and I was really nervous that I wasn't going to be able to survive the run. But to my own surprise I did very well! I stayed with the head of my group the whole run. I'm very confident that I will pass my APFT next week. My endurance has really built up in the last few weeks. These last two weeks I've been running a minimum of two miles so I should definitely be good for the run. Pushups and situps will definitely be no problem.
Yesterday was the Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight. We had a bunch of our neighbors and friends over to BBQ and watch the fight. We made homemade burgers, grilled Italian sausages, and roasted marshmallows on the firepit for s'mores. It's always a good time at our house lol. We laughed and joked about how no one really makes s'mores the old school way anymore. Many of us reminisced on our childhood memories of making s'mores over a fire. I know we all enjoyed the fun of sticky marshmallowey fingers, melted chocolate, and crispy graham crackers that night. The kids definitely loved it.
And now for the BIG debate! What was up with that fight huh? I know the crowds were definitely leaning more towards Ortiz winning but lets look at the facts of the fight. Mayweather's punches were more accurate first of all and Ortiz wasn't in the mood to play fair either. Mayweather landed 73 out of 208 (35%) punches that night while Ortiz only landed 26 of 148 (only 18%). Also Mayweather almost tripled the amount of power punches thrown. You can't deny that he was dominating the fight. And the headbutt??? Come on now Ortiz...we all know that was definitely intentional. Check out the first 10 seconds of the video below. It was intentional. With that being said, remember we are dealing with Mayweather. One of the most arrogant men I know! He is not a gentleman and if you open the doors to play dirty, you damn well better be ready for the Pandora's box that's just been opened. Not only did he headbutt him....Ortiz decided to mock him right after with a kiss. Yeah he definitely pissed Mayweather off. So with that being said yeah the fight ended unfairly but Ortiz is really the one responsible for it. As for the apology from Ortiz afterwards..........??? He should really be apologizing to his managers and fans for letting them down. It was an unfair win and Ortiz didn't even really get to show his boxing skills.
Now with all bets aside Mayweather had no right to tell off Larry Merchant like that. And I hope Larry Merchant gets a raise for that little episode. So Mayweather continues to be undefeated...but the bigger question that lingers in the minds of all us boxing fans is......when will Mayweather get his panties together and fight Pacquiao?????
To be continued.....

Something old...Something new!
So yesterday was a very filled schedule for me. I had my student orientation in the morning for UNCP and it went very well aside from not being able to sign up for a few classes. The first couple of hours they introduced all us transfer students to the services available to us and then we moved on to speaking with an adviser. I only had to spend less than 5 minutes with my adviser though. She was so shocked and awed at how prepared I was, I had already had my desired schedule written down and taken care of the few overrides I knew I needed for the classes I wanted. After my little chat with the adviser I went and registered for my classes. I was able to register for 4 of my classes except the two main classes I need this semester. They are have a co-enrollment requirement which means I can't sign up for one without the other. One of the classes is already filled so I can't sign up for the other class which still has seats available. =/ I emailed my Department Chair though so I'm crossing my fingers that he can send an override to get me into the class that's closed.
Oh yes! And an update from my meeting with the Department Chair last week...I was able to transfer two of the four classes I had asked for which is a miracle! I'm glad because that's two less major requirement classes that I have to take. I'm still missing too many classes to graduate in two years but at least I have 60 credits total that transferred over so I don't need to do any electives. =)
After registration, I headed off to the cafeteria to eat lunch and then got stuck in that building because it was raining MRAPs and Humvees outside lol. They had a bunch of tables set up from different organizations and Greeks trying to recruit. One of the tables was the Army ROTC table. As I walked by the guy at the table asked if I wanted to join the Army. LOL I looked at him and said "I'm already signed up and I'll be started this Wednesday." We got to talking about the class and how I ended up in North Carolina. I mentioned my husband moving from the 173rd in Bamberg and he immediately yelled out "No way!" and showed me his combat patch. Well I'll be damned he was a Sky Soldier! Our conversation lasted another 15 minutes or so lol. God knows I can brag about my Sky Soldiers until the lights go out haha. It was nice to meet someone though. At least I won't be totally nervous my first day of class because I'll know someone. =)
NEXT my husband and I were off with our lovely neighbors Bexaida and Destiny to welcome home Bexi's husband from Afghanistan. It was a great homecoming and it gave me a chance to practice my photo shooting. I can't say I'll ever be a professional photographer but it sure was fun. Here are a couple pics from this emotional and exciting moment for all of us. (My editing is pretty cheap but I don't have a professional photo editor....yet!) =P Enjoy!

Normal is not so normal after all!
Well here I am...after a great four day weekend with my love, I'm now spending the rest of the week solita! It's crazy how even when they are home they are still not really home lol. For the rest of the week my husband will be in the field. I'm sad but at the same time I'm fine because it really isn't nothing I haven't handled before...really I've handled much worse! But it does feel different though. I mean I'm just starting to get used to being around him everyday. It's been almost two months straight where I've been able to wake up to him every morning and kiss him goodnight every evening. I guess I've been a bit spoiled right? What am I saying? Were married! That's normal stuff! lol But for the last three years my husband has had to come and go...as the Army pleases I must say only letting me grasp him long enough to know that he is real lol. I guess that is the life of the military though. Our normal is not the norm of everyone else.
Many of my friends here have their spouse deployed or getting ready to deploy. It's a constant cycle here but a comfortable one all the same because we have each other to lean on. I'm very grateful for all the friends we have made here in the short time we've been here. Some old who have traveled along with us from Germany and others new but will be lifelong friends for sure.
This week my goal is to try and find a job! I've been slacking on this far too long. Tomorrow I will turn in my first application to the credit union on post. Cross your fingers for me and say a prayer!
